Drake's purchasing prowess is now legendary.

So ... was he one of the 'Special' people to have ordered an Intel i7 920 CPU and gotten a box with a fake inside it from Newegg... history is on his side..... Drake... please comment for the masses (I mean the 3 or 4 people who notice this)

The fan looked like it was made from Cheese

yah, been following this story. I'm not blaming NewEgg on this, except for passing on the fakes that they received from one of their long-time distributors. I'm sure NewEgg will make it right, but it shouldn't have happened in the first place. I'd like to give NewEgg the benefit of the doubt... it's so not in their long term interest to try passing off counterfeits.

What is bogus is their initial response where they tried to claim that the fakes were demo products or some such bull.

Slashdot article discussing NewEgg's confirmation that the CPUs are fakes, and pinning the blame on their former supplier IPEX.

Only took a couple of days... I suppose, that when looked at in contrast to what a typical corporate reaction would have been, NewEgg moved with lightening quick speed here.

Ya....I got one of them. The description on Newegg insisted it would work in my AMD AM3 motherboard. It said 'sometimes' you have to hit it with a hammer to make the pins fit, but if you have to do that you should put a cloth over the CPU so you don't damage it with the hammer.

It actually wasn't cheese, but white chocolate. One of the legs broke off to reveal the fraud, or I would have installed it.

Drake would have RMA'd the unit, but ate half the cooling fan before he came to his senses.

So the issue is resolved as they claim their trusted supplier IPEX shipped the items and that they told Newegg about the "Demo units" trying to hide their own stupidity for not spotting the fakes.

In reality it was a plot by gun control promoting liberals from AMD to bring down Intel and Newegg and same sex marriage bills across the US.

Good thing drake didn't install the CPU as it would have run a Fondue program that would have turned his tower into a giant pot for dipping breads, meats and fruit into a steaming mess of liquid cheese or chocolate.
